Do I need to bring anything with me?

If you registered online and received your race bib in the post, all you need to bring is your bib.

If you registered online and are collecting your bib on the day, simply turn up to the registration tent and collect your bib by quoting your surname. You do not need a receipt.

If you have not yet registered, you can pay with cash or card. Full EFTPOS facilities will be available, including pay-pass (please wear appropriate clothing and footwear, and limit any valuables you bring to the park).

What time does race bib collection close?

Race bib collection will close strictly 30 minutes before each event commences (8am for the 5km and 8.40am for the 10km). Please arrive in plenty of time, as you will not be able to collect your bib after check-in has closed.

Why does the 5km start before the 10km?

A key consideration when planning the Cooks River Fun Run is the width of the path and the possible congestion. The start times are designed to ensure that there is the least possible congestion on the course at any given time. Thus the 10km event commences after the majority of 5km participants are off the course.

How does the 10km relay work?

The 10km relay consists of teams of two. The event is 10km in total, with each runner completing a 5km leg.

Runner 1 will start with the 10km runners at 9.10am, and complete one lap of the course. The changeover between Runner 1 and Runner 2 will be in Freshwater Park. On completion of their lap, Runner 1 tag runner 2 under the relay change over point in the turn around bay. Runner 2 will then complete one lap of the course and finish under the finish arch. (individual times for the relay will be calculated from the timing mat at the entrance to Freshwater Park.

What is my starting group?

The Cooks River Fun Run does not have separate starting groups based on estimated finish times; however runners are strongly encouraged to self seed. For slower runners, joggers or walkers it is important for safety reasons to start behind the faster runners. Your time will not be affected as the timing chip will only record your time from when you cross the start mats to the finish line mats.
This will allow everyone to enjoy the event at their own pace.

Where can I leave and collect my clothing/bag?

The Cooks River Fun Run offers a free bag drop service at Freshwater Park. A bag label will be provided with your race kit which will match your race number. Please note you should not leave any valuables inside bags and that organisers will not be responsible for lost property.

Can I run with my child in the 2km Kids Run?

Parents are welcome to supervise their children participating in the run and should complete
“Name of Accompanying Adult” during the registration process. Parents running with their children
in the 2km Kids Run must adhere to directions by race officials and the terms and conditions of the event.

How do I find out my result?

Results will be available online soon after the event where you will also be able to download your certificate.

Are there prizes?

Medals will be awarded to the first three finishers overall and in each age category (male and female) in the 5km and 10km event. For more details on prizes, see the prizes page. All finishers in all events will receive a finishers medal.

Why aren’t medals awarded for placegetters in the 2km Kids Run?

The 2km Kids Run aims to encourage participation for children of all levels and abilities and recognise all finishers. Children who wish to compete for medals are encouraged to enter the 5km event.
